A substantial refurbishment of a end of terrace house in Putney, with the emphasis upon creating an energy efficient and sustainable building. The design considered the proximity of the house to the railway line and introduced a new double glazed box to enclose the unused rear yard, leaving a small sliver of space for a green wall to increase the biodiversity and provide herbs for the clients who enjoy cooking. The fit out included an Air Source Heat Pump, Photovoltaic Panels, Battery Storage, Mechanical Ventilation and Heat Recovery Systems and remote monitoring of all energy use. The ongoing follow up research estimates that 70% of the energy required for the super insulated envelope will be provided by the houses own sustainable power generation. The interior was fitted out with newly created furniture made from the recycled kitchen units from the original house.
