A series of projects developed with Trinty International and Walter Lawrence Ltd to provide accommodation for homeless people above car park sites in Central London. A prefabricated accommodation concept building for leasing by corporations requiring temporary accommodation for staff, using a new financial model for building procurement. The manufacturer would provide the accommodation on temporary sites and lease and maintain the building on behalf of the client. When no longer required the building would be disassembled and reallocated to other sites. This approach was to reduce waste and redefine the possibility of modular construction. A prototype unit was developed and featured in a BBC documentary 4 part series entitled ‘The Name of the Room’ the final episode, presented by Martin Pawley in 1992 with computer graphics by Robert Barnes Architects.
