Commendation - Robert Barnes Architects

This entry probably provoked the most emotional response from the assessor, splitting the panel distinctly into two groups. Although it is a radical departure from conventional hotel design, the RIBA assessors felt that there is a market for this type of experiential specialist hotel. However, they admitted that the scheme is more poetic than pragmatic, and were dubious about its economic and environmental viability. They, nonetheless, felt that the singularity and parity of the concept coupled with its presentation, deserved a commendation.
