The work, made with Ron Haselden, is interactive and responds to the passage of people, animals or vehicles as they pass over small sensors set amidst the lights. The sensors, when activated softly fade the immediate area from red to blue. The blue light holds momentarily and then fades back to the former red. In this way, the Red Carpet becomes awash with travelling waves of blue following the passage of people through the Sutton Walk. All eventually returns again to red.
